added to 1.5 ml. of glass-distilled water in a 15 ml. centrifuge tube, and allowed to stand for five minutes to lake. Then 2 ml. of 10% trichloroacetic acid are added, and the mixture well stirred with a glass rod and allowed to stand for five minutes, after which it is centrifuged for five minutes at 3,000 r.p.m. Then 2 ml. of the clear, protein-free supernatant are pipetted into a stoppered 10 ml. graduated cylinder. Solid (NH4.)20S4 is added to saturate the solution (by tipping in 1.4 g. contained in a marked tube); after shaking the volume is made up to 3 ml. with saturated (NH4)2S04.
