A semiclassical Blankenbecler and Goldberger wavefunction (1962) is used in place of the usual eikonal wavefunction in the optical-model approach to obtain the differential cross sections for e-He elastic scattering at 50, 100, 200 and 500 eV. The calculated results are in better agreement with the available experimental data than the results of the optical eikonal theory.
