The mass spectrometry of semicarbazones of αβ-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones, and of some related compounds

Abstract

The mass spectra of a number of semicarbazones of αβ-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones, and pyrazolines have been determined. The main modes of fragmentation of the semicarbazones involving initial loss of HNCO, NH2·CO·NH2, or NH2·CO·NH· have been distinguished, and their importance related to variation in chemical structure.
