Radiation resistance was transferred by genetic recombination from Escherichia coli strain K-12 radioresistant donors to strain B radiosensitive recipients. The locus for radioresistance in K-12 is closely linked to the locus for resistance to phage T6. Resistance to the radiomimetic agent 1-methyl-3- nitro-1-nitrosoguanidine is transferred concomitantiy with resistance to ultraviolet radiation. (auth)
