Thermomechanical properties of thermoplastically bonded nonwovens are studied in an exploratory series of experiments. Particular attention is given to the post-bonding temperature conditions, as well as bonding temperatures, pressures, times, and concentrations of the lower melting polymer ( i.e. the binder fiber). Discussion of results centers around the potential morphological aspects of the various treatments, comparing mechanical responses of the nonwoven webs to the expectations for various morphological configurations.
