Muds and waters intensively used in thermal treatments were measured for some of the natural isotopes including 40K, thorium and uranium series, in order to assess the exposure risk to patients and personnel. The results, obtained by alpha and gamma spectrometry, show concentrations of radionuclides in muds similar to those usually found in igneous rocks, but with enhanced radium and its daughters. Some waters have high concentrations of 222Rn (up to about 500 Bq.l-1) and 226Ra (up to 6 Bq.l-1).
