The author is project supervisor for hydrocarbon combustor development and research on advanced ramjet engines at Applied Physics Laboratory. After receiving his B.Ch.E. and M.S.E degrees from the University of Florida, he joined the Lewis Laboratory in 1947. Most of his work there was related to fundamental combustion research and particularly to flame velocity and stability. This research resulted in numerous papers and his Ph.D. thesis in 1953 for Case Institute of Technology in chemical engineering. In 1954 Dr. Dugger joined the staff of the International Minerals and Chemical Corp. in Florida, where he worked until coming to APL in 1957.
