This paper proposes a novel design approach for circularly polarized folded transmitarray (CPFTA), integrating radiation and in-band co-/cross-polarization radar cross section (RCS) reduction characteristics. The proposed CPFTA is based on a circularly polarized (CP) transmitarray, which consists of two CP antennas connected to each other with a metalized hole. The CP transmitarray can independently and simultaneously modulate the amplitude and phase of the reflection and transmission coefficients of the dual-circularly polarized electromagnetic (EM) waves just using a simple rotation technique. This unique configuration of the transmitarray units allows for gain enhancement and RCS reduction (RCSR) functions to be accomplished simultaneously. A manufactured and measured prototype provides further validation for the proposed design concept. The simulation and measurement results demonstrate that the proposed CPFTA is a straightforward design with advantages, such as low profile character and low RCS for both in-band co-polarized and cross-polarized waves.
