The elastic, piezoelectric, and dielectric constants of single crystals of ammonium dihydrogen arsenate (ADA) have been measured in the temperature range 20°–80°C. While the six elastic constants and their temperature coefficients are similar to those of ADP, the piezoelectric and the dielectric constants are somewhat different. The relative dielectric constants K11 and K33 are 85 and 22, respectively, at 25°C. The piezoelectric constants d14 and d36 are 36.5×10−12 and 27.5×10−12 C/N, respectively, at 25°C. The loss tangents tanδ11 and tanδ33 are high, and are 1.2 and 9 at 1 kHz frequency. The specific resistivities ρ11 and ρ33 are low and are in the range 5×107 Ω cm measured at 25°C.
