The role of airway stenting to alleviate airway obstruction was first described in the late 1800s. Airway stents have since been used for fistulas in the bronchial tree as well. Airway stenting has the ability to rapidly achieve the shortterm goals. However, the long-term side effects of a foreign body in the airway should temper the enthusiasm for indiscriminate use. We present this series to highlight the need for proper assessment of need before the placement of the stent, followed by constant vigilance after the placement.
