Immunological cross‐reaction between hen egg‐white lysozyme and bovine α‐lactalbumin has been observed in cell‐mediated immune response using both in vitro systems of thymidine incorporation into sensitized lymphocytes, and delayed hypersensitivity studies in guinea pigs in vivo. In contrast, antisera raised in guinea pigs toward these two proteins show only a slight degree of cross‐reactivity, and with rabbit antisera the complete lack of such humoral cross‐reaction is confirmed.
