The authors present the results of numerical calculations of the accretion of H-rich material onto 1 M_sun; C/O white dwarfs and the resulting nuclear runaway. The accreting material arrives on the white dwarfs with angular momentum in the range of 10% - 100% of the Keplerian value and at rates of 10-11- 10-8M_sun;yr-1. The matter is assumed to arrive from an accretion disk and to mix by shear turbulence into the white dwarfs' surface layers. Maximum nuclear burning rates in the range 0.38 - 6.9×1015ergs g-1s-1 are reached, but no nova-like mass ejection results. So far, all models of nova outbursts lying between the two limiting cases of radial accretion and accretion with Keplerian angular momentum have failed to obtain a sufficiently strong nuclear runaway for nova-like mass ejection. Possible explanations of this failure are considered.
