I identify the template organizing the chaotic dynamics of a bounding ball system. I further show how to estimate the topological parameter values of the system directly from a time series---a process I call ``topological time series analysis.'' Two distinct methods to determine the topological parameters are illustrated and compared---the ``pruning front'' procedure and a ``braid analysis.'' Both procedures lead to compatible results.
