We present here a young man with autoimmune thrombocytopenia purpura who was found to have Hashimoto's thyroiditis.A 21-year-old man was referred to the hospital with thrombocytopenia and sudden onset of coma. He had been in good health until 6 weeks before admission, when he developed recurrent epistaxis followed by petechiae and hematuria. There was no previous history of drug ingestion. A maternal cousin had documented autoimmune thrombocytopenia purpura at age 4 and had recovered without incident. Physical findings included diffuse mucocutaneous...References1.
