Mononitroparaffins add, in the presence of piperidine, to 3‐nitro‐, 3′‐nitro‐, 3, 3′dinitro‐and 3,4′‐dinitrochalcones. The nitroparaffins also serve as solvents for these reactions. The infrared spectra of the addition products are discussed.
