The C-13 NMR spectra of hindered t-alkyl ethers and dineopentyl ether have been presented and the electronic and steric effects discussed. The resonances for the α-, methylene β-, and methyl β-carbons of di-t-alkyl ethers shifted downfield by +45, +1.2, and −0.2 ppm, respectively, relative to the corresponding alkanes.
