The carboxylation procedure using Me3NBH2N=C: to displace halogen on intact boranes was applied to make carboxylated derivatives of Me3PBH3, and Me3NBH2CH2SiMe3. The retrograde reaction of decarboxylation to the halide, as well as two methods of forming carboxylic acid esters, are reported. Conversion of amide to nitrile function was also effected in two ways.
