The transfer function technique is applied to geomagnetic micropulsation data in the 10- to 600-s period range in an investigation of possible induction effects at six stations in the British Isles. The two coastal stations predictably display the most pronounced effects and the differences between them are explained in terms of the contrasting coastal structure at the two sites. Among the remaining four inland stations the only significant features are the effect of the ‘Eskdalemuir anomaly’ at long periods, and a moderately large response at short periods at York, which is interpreted as being due to the sloping sedimentary layers beneath the station.
