Dwarf and normal progeny from sex linked dwarf broiler breeder dams were obtained by alternately mating them to dwarf and normal sires. The relationship between the dam's average egg weight and the 50 day weight of her normal progeny was linear, with the slope of the regression not being different for males and females. In dwarf progeny the relationship was linear in females only. The regression of both 50 and 64 day weight of dwarf males showed a significant quadratic trend as they were apparently unable to utilize the benefits of the highest egg weights in the same manner as the other birds. Despite the high degree of significance of the regressions, variation between dam in average egg weight accounted for only a small proportion (P<.05) of the observed variation in body weight.
