A semiclassical model of the helium atom is presented, which has as its basis the concept of classical non-linear resonances. A novel feature of the calculation is its incorporation of exchange effects, leading to singlet-triplet splittings, hitherto inaccessible by a semiclassical approach. Energies of a variety of singly and doubly excited states are given.
