The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the development of tinnitus after stomatognathic treatment. Ninety-three patients were asked by means of a questionnaire about characteristics of their tinnitus, the stomatognathic treatment they had received, and its effect on the tinnitus. The response rate was 86%. About 46% of the patients treated reported reduced tinnitus or no tinnitus a few months after the treatment. A two-year follow-up showed that the improvement remained in most of them. The relatively promising results of dental treatment on tinnitus indicate that further studies are desirable in this field.
