Angle-resolved electron energy-loss spectra for the nitrous oxide (N 2 O) molecule have been measured at an impact energy of 1 keV. The spectra cover an excitation energy range from 0 to 50 eV and an angular range from 1.5° to 10.0°. The absolute inelastic differential cross section and the generalized oscillator strength (GOS) for the D 1 Σ + ←X 1 Σ + transition (9.6 eV) were determined in the 0.05-2.22 au K 2 range. The absolute elastic differential cross section was also determined spanning an angular range from 1.5° to 15.5°.
