The article examines the prospects and possibilities of using artificial intelligence (AI) technological systems in investigating, solving, and preventing crimes. It is proven that support for the application of AI in law enforcement work should become an urgent task for forensic science. The author analyzes some research publications on the application of AI technologies for forecasting crimes or unlawful actions of specific persons, for establishing the location of the possible culprit, and makes some suggestions regarding the promising directions for the use of these technologies for forensic purposes. It is noted that the positive result of introducing digital technologies into forensic work cannot be ensured solely through the formulation of theoretical provisions and scientific discussions if there are no significant results of applied research in this sphere. The author singles out a number of tasks whose solution will help obtain effective results for the introduction of promising cutting-edge digital technologies, including AI, into the theory of criminalistics and the practice of law enforcement.
