In the present study an attempt has been made to collect information on the seasonal changes in the marine environment, the algal flora and the vertical zonation of the different intertidal organisms growing on the Visakhapatnam coast over a period of 3 years. Some experiments were also conducted in the laboratory on four intertidal algae, by exposing them artificially to air, with a view to finding out their ability to withstand different periods of exposure.
