The light output of a sample of plastic scintillator for proton recoils from neutrons of energy 0.14 to 2.3 Mev has been measured. Recoil protons of 1-Mev energy give about ⅕ the light from 1-Mev electrons; protons of 0.2 Mev give about ⅛ the light from 0.2-Mev electrons.
