Pestalosphaeria hansenii n.sp. is described fom Pinus caribaea Morelet var. hondurensis Barrett and Golfari needles from Papua New Guinea. Isolations from single ascospores produced a Pestalotiopsis in culture that matched cultures derived from a Pestalotiopsis associated with the teleomorph on the pine needles. The new species is contrasted with Pestalosphaeria concentrica, P. austroamericana, and P. elaeidis. Discussion of the generic placement of the anamorph involves the names Pestalotiopsis, Pestalotia, Truncatella, Monochaetia, Lennisia, Coryneum, Seiridium, and Hyalocera (or Hyaloceras).
