The insoluble lipoprotein of whole calf liver cells was prepared as a residue by breaking the cells and extracting exhaustively with molar salt solutions. This lipoprotein residue was divided by centrifugation into three fractions, which were found to have the same crude lipid, phosphorus and hexosamine content and almost the same nitrogen content. It is concluded that the insoluble cellular residue is composed of lipoprotein essentially homogeneous in composition.
