Computational simulation demonstrates the nonlinear seismic response of shield tunnels crossing ground fissures under near-fault motions, highlighting the influence of full-path fault rupture.
This paper proposes a nonlinear seismic simulation approach (IBEM-FEM) based on the indirect boundary element method (IBEM) and finite element method (FEM) coupling, which considers the full physical processes of fault rupture, propagation path, site effects, and structural response. This method is used to investigate the nonlinear dynamic response of shield tunnels crossing ground fissures in near-fault soft soil deposits. The IBEM is employed to model a semi-infinite region containing a large-scale seismic fault, while the artificial boundary substructure method is used to transfer displacements and stresses between the inner and outer domains.
