According to the Mason-Bateman theory, the nonlinearity constant, which governs the Akhieser attenuation in solids, can be estimated provided the second- and third-order moduli are known. Some values of the nonlinearity parameter D of InSb have been reported in the literature at room temperature only and these fail to agree with one another and with experimental values. In the present work, attenuation and D values have been estimated in indium antimonide for longitudinal-wave propagation along the 〈111〉 direction and for shear-wave propagation along the 〈110〉 direction at 300 and 80 K. Our results indicate fairly good agreement with experimental values.
