We consider the two orthogonally polarized wave propagations in the nonlinear modal birefringent fibre governed by the coupled nonlinear Schrodinger type equations. In this letter, we construct the Backlund transformation for the coupled NLS equations and coupled Hirota equations. The explicit one-soliton solution is constructed.
