The one-magnetic-species model (Hicks, 1977) is considered for two species. The ferromagnetic moment of each atom is modelled as a function of its environment through its susceptibility and its exchange interactions. Solution of the model leads to a fit of the variation of the average moment with concentration and, with the assumption of first-neighbour interactions, leads to a parameter-free prediction of both polarised and unpolarised diffuse neutron scattering data. A detailed analysis of the Ni-Pd and Ni-Rh systems is presented.
