Theoretical analysis reveals limitations of purely statistical paradigms in language models, suggesting consciousness and semiotics are essential for true intelligence.
Current language models are trapped within the confines of syntax, statistical probability, and applied mathematics derived from a physics-based, entropic paradigm. By basing their architecture on the unproven belief that matter is the universe's primordial element, and that a fundamental separation exists between observer and observed, they illogically exclude consciousness itself as an essential function in generating intelligence. Consequently, they also exclude semantics and semiotics, which represent the most natural, economical, and efficient tools for constructing meaning and sense.
