We investigate the propagation of shear acoustic waves traveling parallel to a magnetic field along a symmetry direction in a metal crystal. We obtain the propagation constant of ultrasound for the $〈100〉$ and $〈111〉$ directions in a single copper crystal using an analytic representation of the conduction-band structure obtained from existing theoretical calculations of the energy eigenvalues of the conduction band. Various characteristic parameters of copper were obtained together with curves showing the attenuation and the rotation of the plane of polarization of shear acoustic waves.
