More than one hundred lines of Br VIII have been classified in the spectral region 416-824 Å, from which all levels of 3 d 9 4 d (except 1 S 0 ) have been found. The energy levels of the configurations 3 d 9 4 s , 3 d 9 4 p and 3 d 9 4 d have been interpreted from Zn III to Mo XV by means of the Slater-Condon theory and of generalized least squares techniques and the root mean square deviations are 8, 51 and 40 cm -1 respectively. The strongest lines of the 4 s -4 p and 4 p -4 d transitions are predicted from Kr IX to Mo XV.
