A parametric study of scattering from a slotted rectangular shell is presented. The E‐field integral equation for the TM excitation is solved using the method of moments. Resonance spikes in the scattering width appear at frequencies that correspond to the resonant frequencies of the interior cavity. When the slot size increases, the resonance spikes shift down as well as broaden in frequency. A different set of modes is excited when the slot position changes. For a slot on the shadow region of the incident wave, the resonance spikes do not appear.
