Ultrathin Pt wires with diameters from 80 nm to 3 {μ}m have been produced using composite drawing techniques. Low-temperature resistance measurements to 1.4 K show a size-dependent resistance increase below T~20 K as large as δRR~2%, which may be evidence of one-dimensional localization, or of a novel three-dimensional mechanism associated with structural disorder.
