The polarized Raman spectra of single crystal 7Li2SO4 and 6Li2SO4 at room temperature are reported. Symmetry-based vibrational band assignments are given for the external and internal optic modes. Comparison of spectra from the two isotopically substituted crystals identifies higher frequency external modes originating in the lithium ion motion. The interaction of these modes with the intramolecular modes of the sulfate ion is discussed.
