A series of eleven patients hadPasteurella multocidainfections following animal injuries, six dog bites, three cat bites, one cat scratch, and one opossum bite. All patients responded slowly but well to appropriate therapy. An extensive literature review revealedP multocidainfections to be common, the incidence and recognition of the organism to be increasing, and the infections to be at times severe or even fatal.
