Magnetic conducting polymer films are prepared for the first time by impregnating metal or metal oxide powders like Fe or FeO in polypyrrole during an electrochemical polymerization. The electrical conductivity of this magnetic conducting film is a little lower than those of non-impregnated polymer films, because of the apparently increased film thickness. Clear hystereses are observed in the magnetization (M) versus magnetic field (H) curves, from which the saturated magnetic fields and coercive fields of 64.7 emu/g and 80 Oe, of 10.5 emu/g and 305 Oe, and of 8.7 emu/g and 210 Oe are evaluated in Fe powder, FeO powder and Fe3O4 powder impregnated films, respectively.
