Vaccinium myrtilloides Michx. is a deciduous low shrub endemic to North America with a range extending from central Labrador to Vancouver Island and from the Northwest Territories (61 N) to West Virginia (39N). To produce fruit the flowers require cross-pollination by bees or andrenids. The fruit of V. myrtilloides is edible and matures during July and August. Only in New Brunswick and Maine does the species occur in commercially viable quantity on the blueberry barrens.
