A brief review is presented of the last ten years of research on the study of the electronics and vibrational properties of organic molecular crystals by means of electron spectroscopies (x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, synchrotron and classical UV photoemission, electron induced vibrational spectroscopy). It is suggested that polymers might also be considered as molecular solids. Different concepts are illustrated: (1)The physical meaning of a "band structure" for one-dimensional solids; (2) the electronic inter- and intra-molecular relaxation processes during the photoemission; (3) the contribution of electron induced vibrational spectra of molecular solids, compared to infra-red and Raman spectroscopies.
