Polarised electrons have been scattered elastically from mercury and xenon atoms and the change of the electron polarisation caused by the scattering process has been measured at the fixed scattering angles theta =90 degrees and 75 degrees (mercury) and theta =80 degrees (xenon) in an energy range 18-360 eV. Together with the absolute differential cross section these measurements yield the maximum possible information on the scattering process.
