Bifunctional magnetic−luminescent Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 /Y 2 O 3:Tb nanocomposite was obtained by assembling Y 2 O 3:Tb nanorods onto the surface of Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 core−shell nanostructures. Transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-rays (EDX), room temperature photoluminescence spectra, and superconducting quantum interference device magnetometry were used to investigate the morphology and properties of the nanocomposite. The results showed that the nanocomposite displayed a strong green emission and superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature; therefore, the nanocomposite is expected to find many potential applications in biomedical fields.
