Natural radiative lifetimes of ytterbium in the 6sns 1 S 0 (n=12-22) Rydberg sequence have been measured using stepwise excitation and the fluorescence decay monitoring method. The lifetimes are perturbed by 6p 2 and 4f 13 5d6s6p configurations near n=12 and 19. The lifetimes of two perturbers were also measured.
