A photomultiplier gating circuit that can easily be added to existing systems is described. No extra power supplies are required as the circuit operates on bleeder current alone. The 'on' or 'off' time range is variable from a minimum of 3 mu s to infinity. The circuit may also be used as part of a photomultiplier protection system.
