, revising an old technique, demonstrated that colloidal carbon injected intravenously was a good indicator of increased vascular permeability and clearly labelled the particular vessels through which plasma protein was escaping. These authors, using this technique of vascular labelling and studying the rat cremaster muscle, found that the increase in permeability after local appli- cation of histamine and serotonin was located electively in the venules and small veins. From their studies they concluded that all tissues of the body would probably react in a similar way.
