Optical potentials in a two-centre atomic orbital approach

The authors present an extension of an optical model formulation for ion-atom scattering processes in order to achieve an explicit separation of the description of capture and ionisation channels. Application of the resulting two-centre optical model to the collision systems H++H and He2++H is given.
