Attention is drawn to the variation of the specific heats of ferromagnetic substances with temperature. In particular, the magnetic and thermal behaviour of a ferromagnetic compound of manganese and arsenic is described, and it is shown that, in this case, the maximum value of the specific heat coincides with the maximum value of dI 0 2 / dT . The variation of the specific heats of ferromagnetic substances with temperature is then contrasted with that expected on the Weiss and on the Heisenberg theories of ferromagnetism.
