Two radioimmunoassay (RIA) screening procedures and two gas chromatography/mass fragmentography (GC/MF) procedures for the identification and quantification of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in whole blood are evaluated. The RIA antisera were evaluated for sensitivity and selectivity. Procedures for extraction and derivatization, in preparation for GC/MF identification, were evaluated for sensitivity and absence of interferences. Identification and quantification of 1–2 ng THC in whole blood (1 mL) can easily be achieved.
