An approximate equation of state for nonspherical hard molecules is derived starting from a recurrence relation in the close packed limit. An ansatz consists of generalizing a Tonks result for the probability distribution of close packing hard rods in one dimension, in order to take into account the effect of overlapping exclusion volumes in three dimensions.
